Arkansas Roofing Insurance Questions, Answered
What's the difference between ACV and RCV on my homeowners policy?
ACV (Actual Cash Value) pays the depreciated value of your roof at the time of damage — you receive less because age and wear are deducted. RCV (Replacement Cost Value) pays the full cost to replace your roof with materials of similar kind and quality, often released in two payments (ACV up front and the recoverable depreciation after the work is complete). RCV is the better coverage for homeowners. We can help you read your declarations page to confirm which one you have.
Do I have to pay my deductible upfront?
You owe your deductible — the amount in your policy — to the contractor as part of the project cost. Arkansas law (and most insurance contracts) prohibits a contractor from waiving, rebating, or absorbing your deductible. Anyone who offers to do that is likely committing insurance fraud and putting your claim at risk.
What if my insurance company denies my claim?
Denials usually fall into one of three buckets: not enough documented damage, damage attributed to age rather than the storm, or a policy exclusion. We can request a re-inspection with the adjuster, file a supplement with additional documentation (drone photos, lab tests for hail bruising, etc.), or recommend a public adjuster for stubborn cases. Most denials we see overturn once the right evidence is on file.
How long does the insurance claim process usually take?
From storm to completed roof, expect 3–6 weeks in a typical case. Day 0–1: free inspection. Day 1–3: claim filed. Day 3–10: adjuster on-site (longer after widespread storms when adjusters are backed up). Day 10–20: estimate, supplement filing if needed, materials ordered. Day 20–30: install and final inspection. We track every claim and keep you posted at each step.
Can I choose my own roofing contractor or does my insurance pick one?
You always choose. Insurance companies sometimes recommend a preferred-contractor network, but Arkansas homeowners have the legal right to hire any licensed contractor. We work with every major insurer (State Farm, Allstate, Liberty Mutual, Farmers, USAA, and more) and we manage the paperwork on your behalf.
What is a supplement and when do I need one?
A supplement is additional documentation submitted to your insurer after the adjuster's initial estimate, when that estimate didn't account for code-required upgrades, hidden damage discovered during tear-off, or material price changes. Supplements are common on storm-damage roofs — we file them on your behalf and routinely recover additional coverage that homeowners would have paid out of pocket otherwise.
